Apparently, some production studio recently held an editing contest to see who could best re-make the trailer of a famous film so that it advertised something completely different; e.g., the runner up was West Side Story as a zombie flick (a la 28 Days Later). Anyway, my whole life I've been too scared to see The Shining. But when you put it like this....

you bet. I read in an article that accompanied the video clip, though, that the editor had trouble finding shots where Jack Nicholson's eyebrows didn't betray utter sinisterness. In some of the frames, still, I felt a little uneasy... but maybe because I knew what the movie's actually about and the irony was hanging over the whole clip like an anvil. pretty cool, though :). I wonder what other movies you could do this with....

this blog, I don't know whose, has the links. the West Side Story one is worth checking out; the others are less clever but still entertaining (Titanic as a horror film (too easy, really), The Parent Trap as a coming-of-age lesbian love story, and Psycho as a romance). have fun!
