No, not abandoning

This is more like rats plundering a sinking ship...
Two articles of note today:

According to a new poll, the President's approval rating has fallen below 40% for the first time in his administration.

The second is a report that already companies with close ties to Bush et.al. have been receiving reconstruction contracts for the gulf coast.

Ok. You've got me there. But, for what it's worth, I'm sufficiently uniformed that I didn't even know that either of those companies would be good for it in the first place. Perhaps a more appropriate gripe would have been directed against the revolving door system in which senior officials, goverment contractors, and high-level lobbyists are largely interchangable.

However, not being one to admit defeat (even when I'm probably wrong) I still highly doubt that the personal connections and financial self interest of Bush Administration officials were entirely removed from the decision-making process.
